Privacy Policy

Effective date: 10 September 2026

App name: Rewind

Rewind ("we", "our" or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how your information is collected, used and disclosed when you use the Rewind mobile application (the "App").

1. Information we collect

Account information

You create an account by signing in with Apple or Google. From that provider we receive an account identifier and the email address it shares with us, which with Sign in with Apple may be a private relay address. You choose a display name and a username, and you can add a bio, a profile picture and a cover photo. We do not ask for a phone number to create or sign in to an account.
Some details stay on your phone and are never sent to us: the gender and interests you choose during setup, and any email address or phone number you type into Account settings.

When you use the social parts of the App we store your friend requests and friendships, the people you block, the reactions and notes you leave on friends' days, the captions you write for days you post, and any reports you file.

On your device. The photographs you shoot are kept at full resolution in Rewind's own storage on your phone. Until a roll has developed and you have sorted it, its photographs exist only there and are not read by anyone. When you choose to save a snap, Rewind writes a copy into your Apple Photos library.

Your photographs. Once a roll has developed and you have sorted it, each snap you chose to keep is uploaded to Rewind's private storage at full resolution, so that your photographs are not lost with your phone. Nothing is uploaded from a roll that has not developed or that you have not sorted, and nothing you deleted is uploaded.

We request permission to access your device's camera to capture photos, and permission to add to your Photos library so you can save a snap. The photo library permission is write-only: Rewind cannot read, list or import existing photos from your library.

We use the collected information to:

  • Operate, maintain and deliver core features of the App, including backing up the snaps you keep.

  • Verify your account and prevent fraud or abuse.

  • Show your profile and the days you post to the friends you have accepted, and to no one else.

  • Provide user support and send you service-related updates, for example account or security notices.

Rewind stores your photographs in two places, and what reaches each one is different:

  • Your device. Every photograph you take is stored on your phone first, and your phone keeps the copy you look at day to day, plus a copy in your Apple Photos library for any snap you have saved there.

  • Our servers. Once a roll has developed and you have sorted it, a full-resolution copy of each snap you chose to keep is uploaded to Rewind's private storage, so your photographs survive losing or replacing your phone. Your account identifier, your username and your display name are stored alongside them.

Three kinds of photograph are never uploaded: snaps on a roll that has not yet developed, snaps on a roll you have not yet sorted, and any snap you chose to delete. A photograph only leaves your phone after you have seen it and decided to keep it.

Uploaded photographs are held in private storage. They are not public and have no permanent web address. A snap you keep privately can be reached only by your own account. A snap from a day you post can also be seen by your accepted friends, through links that expire within an hour. Storage is provided by Supabase, which processes this data on our behalf.

  • Other users. Your accepted friends can see your profile (display name, username, bio, profile picture, cover photo and profile tags) and the days you post, with their captions. A reaction or a note is seen only by the person who left it and the person it was left for. Other signed-in users can find your username and display name in search, which you can limit or turn off under Who can find me. Nobody who is not your friend can see your photographs or the rest of your profile, and blocking someone takes all of this away from them.

  • Reporting and blocking. Rewind lets you block another user and report content you are shown. Reports are reviewed so we can act on content that violates our guidelines or this policy.

  • No third-party ad networks. Rewind is ad-free. We do not sell, rent or trade your personal information or photo content to advertisers or data brokers.

  • Service providers. We share limited data with the infrastructure providers that host our servers and databases, bound by confidentiality obligations, including Supabase, our database and authentication provider.

Sign-in providers. When you sign in with Google, Google's sign-in software
collects a device identifier and usage data for its own analytics, under
Google's own privacy policy. Rewind does not receive that data, and Rewind
itself carries no analytics or crash-reporting software of any kind.

  • Legal requirements. We may disclose information if required by law, subpoena or government request.

We retain your uploaded photographs and account data only for as long as your account is active. You can delete your account at any time from within the App (Account → Delete account), or by contacting us at hello@myrewind.app. Deleting removes the photographs and profile data held in the app on your device, and permanently removes your uploaded photographs, your account and your profile data from our systems. Your username is released and becomes available to others. Photographs you have already saved into your Apple Photos library stay on your device. Deleting Rewind does not remove those.

Rewind is not intended for children under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, contact us at hello@myrewind.app and we will delete it.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of changes by updating the effective date above and, where appropriate, with an in-app notice.

If you have questions or concerns about this Privacy Policy, contact us at hello@myrewind.app.
