Terms of Service

Effective date: 10 September 2026

These Terms of Service ("Terms") are an agreement between you and Rewind ("we", "our" or "us"), the provider of the Rewind mobile application (the "App"). By downloading, installing or using the App you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree to them, please do not use the App.

1. Who can use Rewind

You must be at least 13 years old to use the App. If you are under the age of majority where you live, you may only use the App with the involvement of a parent or guardian who agrees to these Terms on your behalf. We do not knowingly allow anyone under 13 to hold an account. See our Privacy policy for what happens if we learn of one.

You sign in to Rewind with your Apple or Google account. You are responsible for keeping access to that account and for activity that happens through your Rewind account. Choose a username that is yours to choose: usernames are claimed first come, first served, and we may reclaim one that impersonates someone else, infringes a trade mark, or is chosen to abuse or mislead.

Rewind imitates a disposable camera, and the limits below are deliberate features of the App rather than faults in it:

  • A roll holds 27 frames. When they are spent, the camera locks until the next roll loads.

  • A roll develops at 7am and cannot be developed early, by any means.

  • You cannot preview, retake or delete a frame before its roll has developed and you have seen it.

  • The look applied when a photograph develops is not adjustable, and the original ungraded frame is not kept.

We may change how these work as the App develops, but we will not pretend they are accidents. Nothing in these Terms obliges us to add a way around any of them.

You own what you shoot. Rewind claims no ownership of your photographs, captions, notes or profile details ("Your Content").

To run the parts of the App that show Your Content to other people, you grant us a limited, worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to host, store, reproduce and transmit Your Content solely for the purpose of operating and providing the App to you and to the people you have shared it with. That licence exists only so the App can function. It does not let us publish, licence, sell or advertise with Your Content, and it ends for a given item when you delete it or your account, subject to the retention described in our Privacy policy.

You are responsible for Your Content, including having the rights to share it and the consent of identifiable people in it where the law where you are requires it.

You agree not to use the App to:

  • Break the law, or infringe anyone's rights, including privacy and intellectual property rights.

  • Upload or share content that is unlawful, abusive, harassing, hateful, sexually exploitative of anyone, or that depicts a person without a lawful basis.

  • Share content that sexualises a minor in any form. This results in immediate termination and, where required, a report to the authorities.

  • Impersonate another person, or misrepresent your affiliation with anyone.

  • Interfere with, probe or overload the App or its infrastructure, or attempt to bypass its limits, security or rate controls.

  • Reverse engineer, decompile or extract source from the App, except to the extent the law expressly permits despite this restriction.

  • Build automated tools that access the App, or resell or commercially redistribute access to it.

You can block another user, and report a person or a post, from within the App. We review reports and may remove content, suspend or terminate an account, or take other action we consider appropriate. We do not promise to review everything shared through the App, and we are not responsible for content created by other users.

We keep developing the App, so features may appear, change or be withdrawn. We do not guarantee that the App will be available without interruption, or that it will be free of faults. We may update these Terms; we will change the effective date above and, where the change is significant, tell you in the App.

Full-resolution photographs are kept in the App's own storage on your phone. Once a roll has developed and you have sorted it, a copy of each snap you keep is also stored with your account on our servers, as our Privacy policy describes. Until then a roll exists only on your phone: if you delete the App, lose your phone, or your device fails before a roll is sorted, its photographs are gone and we cannot recover them. Rewind is not a backup service. Save anything you want to keep into your Photos library from within the App.

You can stop using the App at any time, and you can erase everything the App holds, and your account itself, from Account → Delete account. We may suspend or terminate your access if you materially breach these Terms, if we are required to by law, or if we discontinue the App. Sections 4, 10, 11, 12 and 13 survive termination.

Nothing in these Terms excludes, restricts or modifies any guarantee, right or remedy you have under the Australian Consumer Law or any other law that cannot be excluded by agreement. If you are a consumer elsewhere, the mandatory consumer protections of the country you live in apply to you regardless of these Terms.

Where our liability under the Australian Consumer Law can lawfully be limited, it is limited, at our option, to re-supplying the App or services or paying the cost of having them re-supplied.

Subject to section 10, the App is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement.

Subject to section 10, and to the maximum extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive loss, or for any loss of data, photographs, profits or goodwill, arising out of or connected with your use of the App. Where liability cannot be excluded, our total aggregate liability to you is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us for the App in the twelve months before the claim, or AUD $100.

These Terms are governed by the laws of Australia. You and we submit to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Australia, which means you may also bring proceedings in the courts of the country where you live if the law there gives you that right. If any part of these Terms is found unenforceable, the rest continues to apply.

If you obtained the App from Apple's App Store, the following applies and prevails over anything inconsistent above:

  • These Terms are between you and Rewind only, not with Apple. Apple is not responsible for the App or its content.

  • Your licence to use the App is a non-transferable licence to run it on Apple-branded devices you own or control, as permitted by the Usage Rules in Apple's Media Services Terms and Conditions.

  • Apple has no obligation to furnish any maintenance or support for the App.

  • If the App fails to conform to any applicable warranty, you may notify Apple and Apple will refund the purchase price, if any. To the maximum extent permitted by law, Apple has no other warranty obligation with respect to the App.

  • Rewind, not Apple, is responsible for addressing any claim by you or a third party relating to the App, including product liability claims, any claim that the App fails to conform to a legal or regulatory requirement, and claims arising under consumer protection or similar legislation.

  • Rewind, not Apple, is responsible for the investigation, defence, settlement and discharge of any third-party claim that the App infringes that party's intellectual property rights.

  • You represent that you are not located in a country subject to a US Government embargo or designated as "terrorist supporting", and that you are not on any US Government list of prohibited or restricted parties.

  • Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms, and upon your acceptance Apple has the right to enforce them against you as a third-party beneficiary.
